Guide to Completing DACE ESL Student Score Sheets and Promo/Retention Forms

As ESL teachers, one of the primary functions of the job is to provide feedback to students on their progress in the language. One of the main ways to do this are through assessments. LAUSD has designed Student Score Sheets for each teacher to fill out and conference with their students.

For visual record-keeping, accountability, and information sharing, all ESL teachers at Maxine Waters Employment Preparation Center also fill out a Promo/Retention form. In the form, teachers list each student’s score results in reading, listening, speaking and writing. They also indicate whether a student intends to register in the next trimester’s course. Teacher Advisors and Office Technicians use the Promo/Retention form to fill out student certificates, register students for the next course, and answer front-desk questions (when the teacher is not available) on whether they passed and what their scores are.

As you fill out these forms, please watch the following video as a guide to help. If you have any additional question, feel free to reach out to the ESL Pathway Advisor assigned to you.
